Hinckley Reservation Hike/Kayak

Description: Hinckley Reservation Hike/Kayak Adventure
Saturday May 27th @ 10:30 AM
10:30am - 12:30pm
Leader: Michael Almony

This COA adventure will begin early with a hike on 3.3 miles of the all purpose trail (paved) at the Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley Reservation. We will hike two times around the trail.

Then we will rent Kayaks and paddle on Hinckley Lake for no more than one hour—this part of the adventure is really for the beginning kayaker who has never kayaked before. I will introduce both stroke and steering techniques for future kayak adventures that will occur over the summer with COA. Intermediate and Advanced kayakers may not want to participate in this activity as you may not find it challenging.

Solo Kayaks are $20.00 for 1 hour
Tandem Kayaks are $22.00 for 1 hour (bring your friend!)
Canoes are $20.00 for 1 hour
Paddleboards are also an option (although I will not be demonstrating this). They are $20.00 for 1 hour
Rowboats (for those with pets) $20.00 for 1 hour

Those who have their own kayaks may bring their own.

For those renting kayaks/canoes/rowboats you must be 18 years of age, you must bring your driver’s license, and a waiver must be filled out. Personal Flotation Devices will be distributed —if you are over 18 you are not required to wear it, but it must remain with you at all times. If you bring your own PFD, it must be one that is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Hiking boots or tennis shoes are recommended as well as water.

Pets: Pets are permitted for both the Hike and Kayak portion of the adventure. Dogs must be leashed for the hiking part, and are only permitted on rowboats.

Accessibility: The Hinckley Reservation All Purpose Trail has hills and acclivities—so it is not a flat paved trail. Hinckley Lake is calm with no branches or debris- and no rapids.

Hike can be viewed on the Cleveland Metroparks Website:
