  Full Moon Hike
Description:
Wednesday October 4th @ 6:30 Chagrin River Park (Lake County) Leader: Jan October’s Moon rises just after sunset and sets around sunrise, so this is the only night in the month when the Moon is in the sky all night long. Some Native American tribes referred to October’s Moon as the Full Hunter’s Moon, as it was the time to go hunting in preparation for winter. This full Moon is also called the “Travel Moon” and the “Dying Grass Moon.” This year, the October Full Moon is also a Harvest Moon! This is because it falls closest to the autumnal equinox. Around the Harvest Moon, the moonrise happens soon after sunset for several evenings in a row, which traditionally allowed farmers to have much more light to finish their harvest! We'll hike about 3 mostly flat miles on trails and all purpose paths through dense forest, past wetlands, meadows and the Chagrin River. Deer here are very used to people, and will sometimes walk along the trails. Dogs welcome on leash. Flashlights (if you need them) with red or green lenses are preferred. Meet at the Rural Rd. (West Entrance) parking lot near the picnic shelter. ***** 1000 Rural Rd, Eastlake, OH 44095 ***** https://www.google.com/maps/dir//1000+Rural+Rd,+Eastlake,+OH+44095/@41.661392,-81.420129,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x8831a95b5904b117:0x8bea22c4c7fbc742!2m2!1d-81.4179403!2d41.661392
